TLC Transit offers skilled transportation and more

At TLC Transit, we offer a wide variety of services to individuals and groups all over northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Our caring and compassionate drivers deliver services to our clients with a heart. We pride ourselves on treating each and every one of our customers like family and we give them the prompt, courteous service they deserve. Q: Will my insurance company pay for TLC’s transportation services?

A: The experienced professionals at TLC Transit will work with your insurance company to determine if they will pay for our services. We do accept Medicaid, BWC, Passport and many other insurance policies as well as private pay.


Q: Can an aid or family member ride with a customer in the ambulette?

A: Yes, we encourage individuals to bring one aid or family member with them on their excursions. However, an aid or family member is not required. Our experienced drivers can assist clients with services such as getting down stairs and even putting on a coat or carrying luggage to a vehicle if this is needed.

Our ambulettes can accommodate up to five walk-on passengers or two individuals in wheelchairs and one walk-on passenger. Please let us know how many people will be included in your ride when you schedule your appointment.  


Q: Can a customer be transport with oxygen?

A: Yes, if the patient provides their own oxygen. Our drivers cannot administer oxygen and we do not have it on-board our vehicles.


Q: My house or apartment has stairs/steps inside/ and or outside, can you still transport me?

A: Yes. Our drivers will go above and beyond to make sure you or your loved one makes it to their appointment on time. If someone is there to assist the driver in getting the individual in a wheelchair down the stairs, that is always helpful. However, our drivers are there to provide the most comprehensive service available so we will do whatever we can to make that happen. We work with each individual client on a case-by-case basis to make sure they are safe and able to be transported to their destination.


Q: What types of wheelchairs can I use in your ambulettes?

A: At TLC Transit, we can accommodate virtually any wheelchair. The Braun Century II series wheelchair can hold up to 1,200 pounds and our drivers are capable of transporting individuals in these types of assistance devices. We can also accommodate wheelchairs with three wheels that many other companies are unable to handle. We are knowledgeable of how to secure and transport a variety of makes and models of wheelchairs.


Q: Does your company provide equipment such as wheelchairs or any other safety equipment to your customers?

A: We understand that some of our passengers don’t use wheelchairs all of the time but they may need them in specific circumstances. For that reason, our vans are equipped with wheelchairs. However, we do not leave our wheelchairs with clients. Our vans also carry complete First Aid kits as well as CPR equipment and fire extinguishers. Because we pride ourselves on providing personalized, caring service, our vans also include blankets to stifle the cold on those chilly days.


Q: Are there any passengers we cannot transport?

A: At TLC Transit, we offer assistance to a wide variety of populations with many different disabilities and disorders including physical impairments, Alzheimer’s disease, behavioral issues and many more. We can also accommodate assistance dogs in our vehicles. We determine our transportation capabilities on a case-by-case basis.
